Investing in massage is an investment in your health. I may employ any of the following modalities in your session:
Myofascial Release:
A soft tissue therapy used for the treatment of skeletal muscle and connective tissue immobility and pain. My approach draws primarily from the tradition of Rolfing-based bodywork as handed down by Ida Rolf.
Craniosacral Therapy:
A gentle modality founded in Osteopathic manual therapy that seeks to release tensions at the joints of the head and vertebrae and re-establish the proper flow of cerebrospinal fluid. My approach is most directly influenced by Hugh Milne and Visionary Craniosacral Therapy.
Visceral Manipulation:
A delicate manual therapy technique that addresses tensions in and around bodily organs; it is used for the treatment of musculoskeletal pain, and postural and biomechanical distortions. My approach draws entirely from the work of Jean Pierre Barral and his institute.
Muscle Energy Technique (MET):
MET is a direct manual therapy technique that can increase joint mobility as well as decrease muscle/fascial tension, pain and swelling. This gentle technique combines a client's active muscular contraction followed by a passive stretch of the affected muscle/joint.
Deep Tissue Massage:
A form of direct pressure massage that emphasizes working on the muscle layers that are deeper than those situated at the surface of the body; effective for relieving muscular tension, improving the flow of blood and lymph, and reducing pain/soreness following athletic endeavors.
